SOS

You were probably wondering what you were going to find in this section… well this is were we're going to have fun. You can help me with this too… if you have ideas, email them to me.

Every once in a while I will post meanings/definitions for SOS.

1 - SOS (stress . or . success)

In these challenging business times success is the focus! Yes, you'll encounter stressful situations, you might even have to let go of a few employees to stay in business and to reduce expenses, but don't give up.

There's still ways to market your company's services without spending too much. At times, I find companies will spend on silly things when in fact they should concentrate a bit of their savings for online/internet marketing.

I'm not convinced that investing tones of dollars for printed ads is still the way to go. With our young generation of savvy internet users who buys newspapers these days anyways? With Web marketing it's so perfect because you're in control on how much or how little you want to invest on a monthly basis. Plus nothing is set in stone you can monitor your progress and review the details for what works best for you. And yes, you can cancel it at anytime.

So stay positive and work on doing things that will keep your business successful!

2 - SOS (save . or . spend)

Well, there's a bit of a catch with this one. You need to spend in order to make money to then be able to save money. But think about it every great business person knows that you have to spend a little to make money.

The key is putting aside a certain percentage of your finances for advertising and marketing.

You need to get new clients/patients/customers in the event that you loose some. It's normal to have a turnover of people that buys from you or that use your services.

It's like buying a car. You don't buy a car every week but when you are ready to buy you will either ask someone to refer you or you'll look through newspapers or magazines for ads.

The idea is to keep reminding people of what you do so when they do need your services you will be top of mind.

It makes sense… try it!

3 - SOS (sales . or . suspense)

Many don't realize that spending money for graphic design and marketing strategies is an investment for their business. I find that on average most don't understand that they can actually make money by doing so.

The difference is doing something yourself and waiting for results or trusting someone to help you develop a plan to increase your sales.

Are you interested in growing your company or do you like the suspense and the uncertainty of never really knowing what is going to happen next?

Send me an email, give me a call and let me give you ideas on what to do next!

4 - SOS (save . our . system)

OK. This one might not sound fun but it's a great one to start with.

Companies often think that they have a great marketing system. What I mean is that they believe the way they design and print their material is the best way.

My number one concern is always how much time does your employee spend on either trying to set it up (with software that comes free with computer) to photocopying it over and over again. My second question is how does it look? Are they spending hours folding, cutting and hand delivering pieces that will get missed or trashed.

Do you want people to get the impression that your company is too small of an outfit to service their needs?

It's all about first impressions. Think of how you react when you get effective marketing printed pieces or even web e-announcements. If they're good, trust me, you'll remember them. You'll even look into their product or service further if they got your attention.

Well, that's exactly how you want people to respond to your brochure, flyer, business cards or even website.

Invest in making it great. Why pay someone minimal amounts to then have to redo it because it wasn't done well the first time.

Think about it and let me save your system!

As a graphic designer, I've noticed that people often wait till the last minute to prepare content for projects.

In this section I will come up with fun example of distress calls relating to design, web and printing.
